Ho Ho Ho!  A hand-knit Santa Claus to help you treasure your cards of cheer the whole season!

Ho Ho Ho!  A hand-knit Santa Claus to help you treasure your cards of cheer the whole season!

Finished: Knitted Santa Claus Christmas Card Holder

December 6, 2013

Good morning, everyone, and Happy Friday!  Isn't it always a wonderful feeling to be done with the work week and feel excitement over which project you're going to start up/work on/finish up/leave to die over the weekend?

I'm proud to say that I finished this little (huge) guy up last weekend.  I've been working on him for two years.  Yes, you read that correctly: two years.  It just seemed like one thing after another kept getting in the way.  I'm not sure what happened the year before, but last year, my family was going through a whole bunch of health struggles.  Even I - the pillar of health (hahahahaha) - was battling an ocular migraine that lasted for two months thanks to the stress at my previous job (I guess now's the time to mention that my vision has never fully recovered).

Pity party aside, I love the way he turned out, and hopefully my friend thinks he was worth the wait:

I knit him up with double-stranded I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby and used safety eyes I ordered on Etsy to finish off his face.  I'll tell you what - that beard was a labor of love, but it looks awesome.  There are a couple variations on Ravelry where people stopped halfway, but I just liked the ones that went all the way up to his more - so that's what I did!

Even though it took two years to complete, this is actually a quick and easy knit.  The technique for creating the pockets was fun, interesting, and probably something I'll incorporate into other projects I design for myself in the future.

Want to make one for yourself?  You can purchase the pattern here for $6 on Ravelry.  Enjoy :)
