We are thrilled to announce that The Worsted Witches will be participating in the Knit for Food Knit-a-Thon for the third consecutive year! This 12-hour knitting marathon is dedicated to combating hunger and food insecurity, with all funds raised equally distributed among four impactful organizations: Feeding America, World Central Kitchen, No Kid Hungry, and Meals on Wheels.
About the Event
Since its inception, the Knit for Food Knit-a-Thon has united crafters from around the globe to support those in need. In 2021, participants raised $265,810; in 2022, $271,761; in 2023, $340,000; and in 2024, an impressive $379,010. Collectively, that's just shy of $1 million dedicated to fighting hunger!
This year, we aim to set a new record, and we invite you to join us in this meaningful endeavor.
Beneficiary Organizations
Feeding America: As the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization, Feeding America works tirelessly to connect people with food and end hunger across the United States.
World Central Kitchen (WCK): Founded by Chef José Andrés, WCK uses the power of food to heal communities and strengthen economies during times of crisis and beyond. Notably, WCK provides meals that are familiar to local demographics, ensuring comfort and dignity for those they serve. Recently, WCK has been on the ground in Southern California, offering free hot meals to first responders and the public affected by the wildfires.
No Kid Hungry: Dedicated to ending child hunger in America, No Kid Hungry works to ensure that every child has access to healthy food where they live, learn, and play.
Meals on Wheels: Focused on addressing senior isolation and hunger, Meals on Wheels delivers nutritious meals to seniors, helping them maintain their independence and well-being.
A Time for Unity
In a world filled with challenges, events like the Knit-a-Thon remind us of the power of community and compassion. They demonstrate that people care and are willing to come together to make a difference. This message of unity and support is more important now than ever.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting some truly talented people in the fiber arts community, and one of my absolute favorites is Briana Luppino of The Little Wolf Knits. Briana is a local to the Lehigh Valley (for now!) and her nature-inspired yarns and thoughtful designs have been a constant source of inspiration for me.
I first discovered Briana through Knitty Natty’s podcasts and Vlogmas, and I was thrilled to learn she lived in the same area. It’s not every day you find someone whose work you admire so much right in your backyard. Since then, I’ve stocked up on her yarn—her boucle base, in particular, has been a game-changer for me. I’m already one and a half sweaters deep and have multiple sweater quantities waiting in my stash.
Last May, our knitting group, The Worsted Witches, hosted a trunk show with Briana, and it was such a hit that we knew we had to bring her back for more. This year, we’re hosting a Galentine’s Day Trunk Show at Lost Tavern Brewing in Hellertown on Sunday, February 16th, at 1 PM.
What makes this event even more exciting is the exclusive colorway Briana has created just for The Worsted Witches. You’ll be able to get a sneak peek and pre-order your own skeins at the event, and I’m confident it will perfectly capture the spirit of our group. Pairing her incredible artistry with our quirky, creative energy feels like the perfect match.
This gathering isn’t just about yarn (though there will be plenty of that). It’s also about celebrating friendship. Some of us are bringing our partners along—they’ll likely congregate at the bar and have a laugh about how much yarn we’ll be bringing home. Meanwhile, I’m planning to bring my newest acquisition, Briana’s Wicked-inspired fade, to start a shawl for the second movie’s premiere.
If you’re local and looking for a community of like-minded fiber enthusiasts, we’d love for you to join us. Events like these are a chance to connect, share ideas, and support an amazing indie dyer while enjoying some good food and drinks.
